Fundraising and Donation Acceptance Policy
This document outlines Astralis Foundation’s policies regarding fundraising and acceptance of donations. Those considering supporting Astralis can reach out to our CEO Jona Glade (Jona@astralisfoundation.org). We appreciate your time and consideration of support.
General policies
Astralis’ grantmaking decisions are made independently and free of influence from its fundraising activities. A donor’s support of Astralis does not imply the donor’s support for any particular position or agenda, and Astralis’s acceptance of a donation does not imply endorsement of or agreement with the donor or the donor’s affiliates or grantees.
Astralis will decline any donation that it believes may endanger its charitable status or its mission.
To maintain both the fact and appearance of independence in pursuit of its mission, Astralis will not accept donations from:
– Active C-level leaders, co-founders, or policy staff of major AI companies,– AI industry associations or lobbying groups, nor
– Governments, government-funded organizations, or political parties active in the AI policy space.
To further strengthen both the fact and appearance of its independence and international donor base, Astralis will maintain the diversity of its donor base, and will limit certain donor categories to below 50% of total donations, such as AI company employees as a group, or U.S. funding.Confidentiality
Most of our donors prefer to remain anonymous. Hence, by default, they are not listed on the Astralis website or otherwise disclosed, except to the extent required by law.
Types of gifts
Astralis can accept a range of cash and non-cash donations. For details on how to make donations or related questions, please reach out to Astralis Operations Associate Nat Andreae (Nathaniel@astralisfoundation.org).
Thank you again for considering supporting Astralis Foundation.
