Ville is founder and President of Astralis, where he leads funder relationships and works with the leadership team on overall strategy. He also runs a family office focused on impact and AI. Previously he co-founded SteadRise, which helps talent worldwide enter careers contributing to secure and beneficial AI, and has served on several non-profit boards. He studied law, development economics and sustainability at Uppsala and Cornell. His main hobbies are mountaineering and quantitative investing.

Jona is CEO at Astralis, responsible for our strategy and for leading the grantmaking team. Before launching Astralis, he co-founded cFactual, a strategy consultancy advising 20+ high-impact AI safety organisations, and was a consultant at BCG, where he founded Consultants for Impact to place professionals in impactful roles. He studied organisational psychology at the University of Vienna. When he is not working, he reads about optimal decision-making, climbs and backcountry skis.

Paige is COO at Astralis, where she oversees all of our operations functions. She previously served as Chief of Staff at GiveWell and Director of Operations at Coefficient Giving (formerly Open Philanthropy). Paige holds an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BA in Economics from Yale University. Outside of work she enjoys exploring the Bay Area with her husband and two kids.

Julian is Head of AI Strategy at Astralis, where he works on grantmaking strategy, prioritisation, and processes. Previously, he was a grantmaker on the AI governance and policy team at Coefficient Giving (formerly Open Philanthropy) and a research assistant at the Centre for the Governance of AI. Julian holds a BA in Economics from McGill University and an MSc in Social Science of the Internet from the University of Oxford.

Dominika is Head of People Operations at Astralis. In her role, Dominika focuses on building people-first systems that support staff and help the organisation thrive. Before joining Astralis, she worked as Senior People and Culture Manager at Rethink Priorities. Dominika holds a PhD in Security Studies from the War Studies University of Warsaw, Poland. 

Elliot is Content Lead at Astralis, where he leads the organisation’s written communications. Previously, he was a writer-researcher at Convergence Analysis, where he wrote and produced research on AI governance, and a technical writer at QuantumBlack, where he wrote about machine learning. Elliot holds a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Manchester and an MNatSci in Natural Sciences from the University of East Anglia.

Jason is an Asia Programme Officer at Astralis, where he leads the organisation's grantmaking to support AI safety and governance efforts in the region. Jason previously worked as a Senior Research Manager at Concordia AI, leading their publications on China's AI safety ecosystem. Jason received an MA in Global Affairs from Tsinghua University as a Schwarzman Scholar, and received a BA in Public Policy from the University of Chicago.

Yixiong is an Astra Fellow at Astralis, where he supports the organisation's strategy and grantmaking in Asia. He previously worked on technical AI safety & security research with Gray Swan AI and the Center for AI Safety. He also led the Georgia Tech AI Safety Initiative's field building work and co-founded Second Look Research, where he leads a team working on replications of key empirical research in AI safety. 

Harriet is our Operations Manager. Before joining the team, she worked in operations at the Institute for Law & AI and the Center on Long-term Risk. She studied Music at the University of Cambridge and Mandarin Chinese at Tianjin Normal University, China.

Nat is Operations Associate at Astralis and Executive Assistant to Ville (President) and Jona (CEO). He has been part of the team since Astralis was founded in 2024, and holds a first-class Philosophy degree from Durham University.

Roc is Grants Manager at Astralis, where she builds and runs the operational backbone of the foundation's grantmaking. Previously, she was Executive Director at the Dory Foundation, where she built its operations and grantmaking infrastructure from scratch, COO at ClimateScience, and Operations Manager at the Oscar M. Lopez Center for Climate Change Adaptation. She founded and serves as President of Phlourish Mental Health Initiative in the Philippines. Roc holds a BS in Development Communication from the University of the Philippines.
